Briscoe Gardens in Friendswood is one of five gardens on the Heritage Gardeners Spring Garden Tour this year. Tourgoers will marvel as they walk through the arched way covered with pink blooms from the abundant Peggy Martin rose bushes. All around the yard are blooming identified plants.
In one section is a pond with aquatic plants as well as potted plants, all part of the Heritage Junior Master Gardener research area. The group of children meet monthly and learn about horticulture as they work toward state certification as a Junior Master Gardener.
The garden also extends around the clubhouse. Spring is a wonderful time to visit Briscoe Gardens and the archway will provide a beautiful photo opportunity for those on the tour.
Four additional private gardens at homes in Friendswood are also part of the tour.
Tour hours are Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28 from 1 to 5 pm. Tickets are available at local businesses in Friendswood and the Chamber of Commerce. On the tour dates, tickets will be available at the Heritage Gardener clubhouse at 112 W. Spreading Oaks in Friendswood.
The annual garden club spring event will also offer a huge Plant Sale, Spring Vendor Market, Ask a Master Gardener opportunities to have garden problems solved, raffles, and three gardening presentations inside the clubhouse on Saturday. Creating a Pollinator Garden by Master Gardener Chris Anastas will take place from 9 to 9:30 am. Growing Fruit in Your Backyard will be presented by Fruit Specialist Robert Marshall from 10 to 11 am.
Successfully Growing Plumeria will be presented by Master Gardener Loretta Osteen from 11:30 to 12:30. Anyone interested is invited to attend. There is no pre-registration for the three events.
All events other than the tours will take place at 112 W. Spreading Oaks in Friendswood. Only the tour requires tickets to attend.
