Four Houston area sites stocked with catfish

Date:

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department announced catfish stocking has begun for 18 designated “Neighborhood Fishin’” locations, including four in the Houston area.
Those include Burke Crenshaw Park in Pasadena, Community Park Lake in Missouri City, Mary Jo Peckham Park in Katy, and Herman Little Park in The Woodlands.

“Neighborhood Fishin’ lakes are conveniently located in urban and suburban areas, so Texans don’t have to travel far to have a great experience,” said Marcos DeJesus, TPWD Inland Fisheries Division Region Three Director. “Catfish are fun and easy to catch for anglers of all ages and experience levels. If you’ve never fished, these are the perfect places to start.

Each lake will receive channel catfish every two weeks through the end of October — with a brief pause during the heat of August — to ensure plenty of angling opportunities for everyone throughout the spring, summer, and early fall. Anglers can keep up to five fish of any size per day. Youth under 17 do not need a fishing license, but adults do.
