A citizen’s committee appointed to address Alvin ISD’s future needs is expected to present its recommendations to the school board on Tuesday at its regular meeting.
The board typically meets at 7 p.m. in the Tommy King Administration Building, 301 E. House St., Alvin. Meetings are open to the public. Agendas will be posted at alvinisd.net/page/2023-2024-board-meeting-files.
Meeting since February of this year, the Citizen’s Advisory Committee includes more than 100 Alvin ISD parents, local elected officials, property owners, and business representatives.
Trustees in late 2023 tasked members with studying the school district’s growing enrollment vs. its space needs in the coming years. Recommendations could include construction or expansion for fast-growing areas.
Alvin ISD last held a bond election in 2018, but the district is projected to enroll more than 33,074 by 2028, according to demographers. That number will grow to nearly 37,000 by 2033, forecasts say.
