ACC Regents Approve Repair Projects

The Alvin Community College Board of Regents approved contracts to make repairs and upgrades to campus facilities during their meeting on June 27.

The board approved a $287,920 contract to rebuild most portions of the 2-mile jogging trail on campus. A small section was rebuilt earlier this year.

The board also approved a $74,986 contract for a new boiler in the Science/Health Science Building as well as a $368,975 contract for roof repairs to buildings A, B, C and D.

In other action, regents received a presentation on the ACC Foundation’s annual report and audit from the previous fiscal year. Foundation Executive Director Wendy Del Bello delivered the report which showed the organization received an unmodified opinion from the auditors.

Del Bello also reported the Foundation awarded $202,271 to student scholarships and college programs for the 2023 fiscal year.

Regents also:
-approved annual contracts for staff members
-approved hiring of an IT director
-approved TASB board policy update 47
-heard report on the budget development for the 2024-25 fiscal year
-heard monthly financial reports
-approved purchases for upgrading reporting software

The board will have its next meeting on July 25 at 6 p.m. in the Nolan Ryan Center.
