Carrie Durso, a student at Friendswood High School, achieved remarkable success on Sunday by securing 3rd place in the Children’s Stories category at the Technology Student Association (TSA) National Conference.
The competition took place in Orlando, Florida, from June 26-30, bringing together talented students from across the nation.
Carrie’s now award-winning book, “You’re Not Alone Little Zebra,” is based on her personal experiences growing up with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS).
Diagnosed at the age of 14, Carrie faced the challenges of living with a chronic illness and was disheartened by the lack of children’s literature that addressed such experiences. Motivated by this gap, she set out on a mission to create a story that would resonate with children facing similar health issues.
