City urges patience with debris removal

Date:

In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, the City of Friendswood urges residents to exercise patience as debris removal contractors work their way through the community.
An official representative from the City acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating, “While we do not have a timeline, debris pickup is a long process and could take a few more weeks for the first pass to be completed.

The city asks that residents be patient while debris is picked up. Multiple passes will be made through the city.”

In the meantime, the remnants of Beryl’s destruction remain a constant reminder of the lengthy hurricane season ahead. The debris removal service is free to all Friendswood residents, yet the logistical hurdles remain significant.

To help expedite the process, residents are encouraged to bag all vegetation in clear, see-through bags and to keep fence debris separate from fallen branches. Debris placed in black bags will still be picked up, but cleanup crews must verify the contents before loading, potentially causing delays.
