A new addition to the Massey Oaks development won’t have the townhomes originally planned.

In back-to-back meetings, Pearland City Council on Monday approved the first and second reading of an ordinance amending the plan for a residential development on just under 80 acres.

Located south of Old Massey Ranch Road, east of future Harkey Road, and west of McLean Road, the site was once known as the Ordeneaux tract. It is being developed as an addition to the existing master-planned community Massey Oaks.

The original plan for the tract called for 74 townhouses, 99 single-family homes, and 106 shared driveway detached lots. The amended plan calls for 200 traditional single-family lots. Home prices are expected to begin in the mid $300,000s.

The plan for townhomes was removed due to market changes, according to the developer.
“It’s very rare we have people wanting to go less dense than more dense,” Mayor Kevin Cole said.

The amendment passed with Councilman Chad Thumann recusing himself from the vote.
