Local businesses may put up banner signs to temporarily replace those damaged by Hurricane Beryl, Pearland City Council decided Monday.
“This is just a small step in ensuring our businesses have an adequate way to tell their story, show that they’re open and make sure they get customers as we come out of this storm,” Pearland Chamber President Jim Johnson said Monday.
Temporary banner signs may be displayed through December 5 with a permit from the city.
“If we get to that point and there’s supply chain or issues with getting signs replaced, we can look at extending that,” City Manager Trent Epperson said.
Shortly after Beryl struck, the council held an emergency meeting and voted to waive permit fees for repair or rebuilding after the hurricane.
Johnson asked the council to consider extensions on landscaping requirements for businesses that had tree damage.
