A cigar shop and lounge and a TopSoap car wash are slated to open new locations on Broadway after the city granted each a special permit to open.
Pearland requires cigar shops and car washes to get a conditional use permit from the city council to operate in a general business district.
E&A Cigars, currently located at Broadway and Wagon Trail Road across from Bayway Chevrolet, is moving to a new home on Broadway just east of Highway 288. The shop and lounge will open in a 1,360-square-foot space at 10201 Broadway St. Owner Eddy Aguiar said the shop has outgrown its current location after nearly three years.
The lounge, retail and education area will have a ventilation system, and is also subject to city ordinances regarding smoking in public places, Pearland city staff said.
The council granted final approval of a conditional use permit for the shop in July. A conditional use permit for a car wash at 8013 Broadway St. was also approved.
Turphin Ventures LLC plans to open a TopSoap Express location with a 4,500-square-foot tunnel.
