Input phase winds down for Old Townsite plan

Public input will end soon regarding a master plan to revitalize Pearland’s Old Townsite.

An in-person open house on the Old Townsite Revitalization Plan is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at First United Methodist Church, Pearland.

The session is part of the public input phase of the plan, contracted by the city and funded through the Pearland Economic Development Corp.
In addition to in-person feedback, an online survey at pearlandoldtownsite.com will remain available through Saturday, Oct. 5. Survey respondents are asked to share thoughts on the Old Town District and their vision of future opportunities for it.

Feedback also involves a stakeholder group of approximately 50 people in addition to a public input component.

The $350,000 plan will evaluate existing conditions and create a future plan for the 1890s-era Old Town area, considered the heart of Pearland and once home to a hardware store, general store, printing office, hotel, and small school.

The national firm Olsson Studio is conducting the plan in partnership with Baxter and Woodman and CDS Community Development Strategies.
