Fall events: Trail swapped for upgraded fall event

Date:

by Nicole Bradford

October brings a variety of fall and spooky themed events, but the annual Trick or Treat Trail won’t be among them in 2024.

Instead of the Halloween night candy trail, an Oct. 19 “Fall for It” event will include a costume contest and parade at Independence Park.

“Fall for It” begins with a third-anniversary celebration of the local Farmer’s Market with a meet and greet with characters from the movie, “Inside Out,” which will be screened at the park at 6 p.m. A Halloween costume contest is at 4:30 p.m., and a costume parade through the park is set for 5 p.m.

A review of city events recommended divesting from the Trick or Treat Trail and enhancing the fall Sunset Cinema and Farmers Market events in October. The review cited declining business participation — exhibitors dropped to 47 booths in 2023 from more than 70 the year before and shows that more than 60 percent of attendees to the trail are from outside Pearland.

Other options for families seeking alternatives to neighborhood trick or treating include the Pearland Town Center’s Trick or Treat on Our Street at 4 p.m. Oct. 26 or at Cole’s Flea Market, 1014 Main St., on the same day.
