Friendswood High School (FHS) brought the magic on Thursday, October 24, with its Homecoming parade, turning the town into its very own Disney Channel. With the theme “This is FHS and You’re Watching the Disney Channel,” students, staff, and the community came together to celebrate in true Friendswood fashion, complete with spirited floats, Mickey ears, and all the FHS pride you could imagine. The parade kicked off near First Baptist Church, and the streets were lined with fans of all ages, ready to cheer on their favorite Disney-inspired characters and support the Mustangs.
The parade had 36 entries, including cars for the Homecoming queen finalists, sweetheart finalists, alumni from the graduating classes of 1978, 1995, and 2005, and other clubs/organizations representing Disney themes, including Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Inside Out, and the Sandlot.
Four awards were given out to [group] (Most Creative), [group] (Best Class Float), [group] (Best Use of Theme) and [group] (Most Spirited).
The parade was organized by FHS Student Council, led by Student Council President Oneli Ekanayake and Student Council Advisor Laura Peter.
The community’s love for FHS was on full display, with smiles, cheers, and school spirit lighting up the streets. This year’s parade was a magical celebration that brought everyone together.
