Tree recycling begins day after Christmas

Date:

The annual Dunes Day Christmas Tree Recycling project benefitting county beaches begins the day after Christmas.

Trees with no flocking, tinsel or decorations will be accepted for the project through mid-January at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center, 5800 Magnolia Parkway. Drop-off will be Monday through Sunday at the entrance gate.

Christmas trees are turned into sand dunes along the Brazoria County coastline to strengthen them against storm surges.

Brazoria County Dunes Day for tree recycling is 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 20 at Stahlman Park, Freeport. For information, call 979-864-1152.
