Citizens Police Academy to begin new class

A limited number of spots remain for the Citizens Police Academy No. 59, which is set to begin on February 20.

The free, 13-week course offers instruction and insight into various areas of police work, including hiring, investigations, drones, K9, SWAT, and more.

Students must be 18 or 17 with a parent present, live or work in the city, and be subject to a background check. The Citizens Police Academy class is offered twice per year in the fall and spring.

Classes will meet on Thursday nights from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The deadline to register is January 20.
