Benefit held for family of fallen deputy

A dine-and-donate fundraiser for the family of Brazoria County Deputy Jesus Vargas will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on February 12 at Pollo Bravo Pearland, 15718 Highway 288, Suite 170.

The restaurant is donating 50 percent of sale proceeds during this period to the family of Deputy Vargas, who was killed in the line of duty while serving a warrant in Houston on January 15.

Vargas had served with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years and also served with the United States Marshal’s Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. He is survived by his wife and three children.
