Council Recognizes Library Director

Council Recognizes Library Director: Matt Riley, current Friendswood Library Director and city employee since 1989, was honored for 35 years of service to the community. Riley thanked his family and staff for their support, particularly noting the community’s encouragement during the past year.

Winter Storm Response: The city maintained power throughout the recent winter weather event, which brought 2.5-3.5 inches of snowfall. At the Council meeting on February 3rd, City Officials encouraged residents to sign up for news alerts through the city website for future emergency communications.

Engineering Director Appointed to Regional Board: Jildardo Arias, Director of Engineering for the City of Friendswood, was named to the San Jacinto Regional Flood Planning Group, where he will help shape regional flood mitigation planning efforts.

Administrative Staff Achievements: Deputy City Secretary Raquel Martinez and Administrative Assistant Linda Newstead completed their Texas Municipal Clerks certification programs, both receiving scholarships for their training
