ACC will develop an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Marketing, Advertising, and Sales and an Applied Science Degree in Integrated Technologies.
“This allows individuals to specialize in that degree and pivot within it,” said Dr. Stacy Ebert, vice president of Strategic Initiatives.
The degrees and certificates will start being offered in the Fall of 2025. The programs were created in collaboration with professionals in their respective industries.
The Marketing, Advertising, and Sales degree will prepare students for careers in various fields with training in public relations, e-commerce, digital advertising, sales, and more.
The Integrated Technologies degree was designed to meet the high demand for workers in the Information Technology field.
The degree will focus on IT infrastructure, network administration, software development, data security, programming, and more.
Regents also approved the creation of Advanced Technical Certificates in pipe systems design, civil, structural design, and mechanical design through the Design Engineering Technology Department.
The regional job outlook for degree plans and certificate programs is significantly higher than the national average.
In other action, regents heard a report on enrollment at ACC, which showed enrollment for the Spring 2025 semester increasing nearly 10 percent from the previous Spring. Enrollment in the last Fall semester increased by 6 percent from the prior year.
The report also showed that 37 percent of ACC students are part of the Dual Enrollment program, and there has been an 11 percent increase in the number of sections offered this semester compared to the previous Spring.
The board voted to approve the implementation of redundant IT infrastructure for the campus. The college received a $292,513 grant from the Texas Governor’s State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. The equipment will allow the college to secure its data in an offsite facility in the event of a disaster.
Regents also:
-approved the purchase of a virtual reality law enforcement training program at the ACC West location
-approved contract for a digital textbook provider
-approved purchase of an AI speaker
-approved local board policies on reserve funding and workforce injury compensation
-heard report on annual audit in which the college received an unmodified opinion, the highest assurance an entity can receive
-approved resolution supporting proposed dynamic funding model
The regents will have their next meeting on March 27 at 6 p.m. in the Nolan Ryan Center.
