Date:

Shadow Creek improved to 8-1 on the season after getting a 34-7 district win over the Alief Taylor Lions, which assures them of advancing to the Class 6A Region III playoffs for the sixth straight season. The Sharks have never missed the post-season in their young history.

The Sharks are also in a three-way tie for the District 23-6A title, with Dawson and Pearland at 5-1.

The final game of the regular season will be Shadow Creek and Strake Jesuit (3-3), which will be on Friday, November 3, at Crusader Stadium at 7:00 p.m.

Taylor didn’t offer much resistance as Shadow Creek controlled the game from start to finish.

Shadow Creek built a 14-0 first-quarter lead as WR Rahim Hutchins caught a 5-yard TD pass from QB Cobey Sellers for a 7-0 lead following the PAT by Aiden Bui.

Sellers fired his second scoring strike in the same period when Ashton Jones snagged a 5-yard scoring pass. Bui was on the mark with the PAT for a 14-0 advantage.

The Sharks added two more scores in the second quarter as Sellers skipped into the end zone on a 4-yard TD run, and then the junior QB found the pay station later in the period on a 3-yard keeper. Bui added both PATs for a 28-0 halftime lead.

Shadow Creek scored one more time in the third quarter when Sellers hit his third TD pass to WR Chris Steward on a 35-yard scoring strike to make the score 34-0 after the missed PAT.

Taylor found the end zone only once in the second half when they scored on a 13-yard run by Jaxson Adeoye in the third period to post the 34-7 final score.

Sellers was 9-of-14 passing for 139 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 23 yards on six carries and two TDs.
