The school calendar for Alvin ISD for 2024-25 has been set.
Alvin ISD Trustees this month adopted a calendar designating Aug. 12 as the first day of school for “transition” students or those attending a new campus — pre-kindergartners, sixth graders, and high school freshmen. All other students begin the new school year on Aug. 13.
A weeklong fall break scheduled for Oct. 14-18 coincides with the Brazoria County Fair, and the Thanksgiving break will be a full week for students. Spring Break is March 17-21.
The school year will wrap up before Memorial Day weekend. Graduation dates for high schools are still being determined. Graduation ceremonies for most high schools, including Shadow Creek High, are held at Freedom Field.
The calendar was based on recommendations from the District Education Improvement Committee, which sought input from parents, staff, and community members.
“Parents, district staff, and high school students also had an opportunity in November to submit a survey with questions about the draft calendar,” Superintendent Carol Nelson said.
