Do you have children or grandchildren in the FISD system?
I have 3 grandchildren that have graduated from FISD; 2019, 2020 and 2022.
What is your perspective on Standards-Based Learning (SBL)?
Standard Base Learning is not the grading policy that should be used in our K-5 grades. I feel this grading policy will cause gaps in learning, understanding, and difficulty in connecting skills. Some teachers feel constrained by deficits in curriculum and testing, which has affected workload and teacher morale.
What is your perspective on the current learning reassessment policy?
The current learning reassessment policy gives all students the chance to achieve mastery.
What are your opinions on current teacher workload and pay?
Our teacher’s current workload and pay desperately need to be addressed. We need to give teachers the compensation they deserve; they need to be respected and heard!
What specific parts of the current FISD system are you hoping to change?
I am hoping to raise teacher pay, give them autonomy; ensure a safe environment, and ensure FISD remains a district of distinction.
What is your position on current bond initiatives for facility improvements?
My position on the current bond initiatives for facility improvement, is to ensure that our tax dollars are spent effectively and allocated for what the citizens of Friendswood voted for.
