A local fundraising walk on November 9 and a countywide parade on November 11 are among veterans’ events set for November.
The Pearland Veteran’s Walk will be from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, at the recreation center, 4141 Bailey Road. On-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and is $25.
“It’s a great way to honor and show the veterans in our community that we remember and recognize and thank them for their service,” Leo Walker said.
While the reason is a serious one, he said, “it’s a really fun, family-oriented day.”
Walkers and runners can also register in advance for $20 at PearlandWalk.org or by calling 281-219-9320 or emailing info@pearlandwalk.org.
“All of the money raised stays here,” Walker said, “nonprofits that help veterans with post-traumatic stress and other challenges — organizations you likely know in the area.”
The Brazoria County Veterans Day Parade takes place in Pearland this year on Monday, November 11.
The day will begin with a breakfast at 7 a.m. at VFW Post 7109, 4202 W. Walnut St.
The parade lineup begins at Parkway Church, 3005 Pearland Parkway, and the parade is 10 a.m., ending at Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway.
A hot dog lunch will be served at noon, and a veteran’s program is scheduled for 1 p.m.
