Amanda Gordon and Erin Hamann Named Pearland ISD Principals of the Year

Pearland Independent School District named Jamison Middle School’s Amanda Gordon and Dawson High School’s Erin Hamann as the Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year.
Principals Gordon and Hamann are dedicated administrators who have profoundly impacted the lives of their students, teachers, and communities.

Amanda Gordon, Jamison Middle School

Jamison Middle School’s Amanda Gordon was named the Pearland Independent School District 2024-25 Principals of the Year.

Now in her 16th year of education, Amanda Gordon is a graduate of Southwestern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and minored in Spanish. She also played four years of basketball for the university. She furthered her education at the University of Houston Downtown, obtaining a Master’s in Urban Education with an emphasis on Curriculum, and earned her Principal Certification from Lamar University.

Prior to joining Pearland ISD, Gordon held various positions, including teaching English Language Arts at North Shore Middle School, teaching sophomore English and coaching girls’ junior varsity basketball at North Shore Senior High School, and serving as an Instructional Coach in Galena Park ISD. She then transitioned to administrative roles, serving as an Assistant Principal and Associate Principal at Crosby Middle School before assuming her current position as principal at Sam Jamison Middle School.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Jamison Middle School family,” Gordon said. “The supportive environment fostered by the families, the dedication of the staff, and the eagerness of the students to learn and grow make this a truly special place. I am excited to contribute to the continued success of Jamison Middle School.”

Gordon is passionate about student success and believes in the power of education to transform lives. Inspired by Dr. Seuss’s “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” she emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement and encourages students to strive for excellence.
“Our motto at Jamison Middle School, ‘We Not Me…1% Better Each Day,’ reflects our commitment to personal and collective growth, we believe that small, consistent improvements can lead to significant achievements.”

Gordon enjoys working with middle school students, recognizing their unique energy, eagerness to learn, and capacity for growth. She is committed to building strong relationships with students and staff, creating a positive and supportive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed.

Erin Hamann, Dawson High School

Dawson High School’s Erin Hamann was named the Pearland Independent School District 2024-25 Principals of the Year.

From humble beginnings as a graduate of Pearland High School to becoming a distinguished leader, Erin Hamann’s journey is a testament to dedication, passion, and a commitment to student success.

Hamann’s 30-year career with Pearland ISD has been nothing short of extraordinary. Having come full circle in his career, achieving one of the highest recognitions with the district, his journey included being recognized at Pearland Junior High West as New Teacher of the Year in 1995; he then received Teacher of the Year in 2003.

As a classroom teacher, he inspired young minds, igniting a love of learning in his students. His transition to administration brought a new leadership level, guiding and mentoring countless educators. As Principal of Dawson High School, Hamann has overseen the growth and development of a remarkable institution, fostering a culture of excellence and achievement.

What truly sets him apart is his unwavering dedication to students. “I am incredibly proud of the work we’ve accomplished at Dawson High School,” said Hamann. “From the very beginning, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside students and staff to create an exceptional learning environment.”

His focus on individual student needs, and a relentless pursuit of academic and personal growth has empowered students to reach their full potential. Under Hamann’s leadership, Dawson High School has become a beacon of hope, opportunity, and success for students from all walks of life. “If it benefits our students, it’s worth fighting for,” he stated. “Our primary focus is on each student, ensuring that all doors remain open and that we help them discover and pursue their passions.”
