City cancels May election

Two Pearland City Council members seeking reelection and one seeking a seat of a retiring member will face no opponents in May. 

Position No. 1 Councilman Joseph Koza and Position No. 5 Council member Layni Cade filed for reelection, and candidate Rick Fernandez filed for Position No. 6 on the council. Since the filing deadline passed with other candidates, all three this week were declared unopposed. 

Pearland City Council, as part of its consent agenda on Monday, canceled the May 3 city election.
