Plans underway for festival, parade

Pearland’s annual Hometown Christmas Festival is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at Independence Park.

The event is free and open to the public with parking at Pearland High, 3775 S. Main St. It includes stage entertainment, holiday lights, vendors, and food trucks.

The Hometown Christmas Parade is planned for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, and entries are open on a first-come, first-served basis.

The parade invites lighted floats, classic cars, dance teams, and marching or walking groups to enter. The procession takes place on FM 518 from Old Alvin Road to Pearland Parkway, with street closures in place before the event.

Applications for parade entries are being accepted now, and the fee is $25 per float or group. For more information, call 281-412-8900.
