Heritage Gardeners to host garden tours, plant sales, gardening presentations and more

Date:

Heritage Gardeners are preparing for their large annual Spring Home Garden Tour, which will include a huge Plant Sale, raffles, a Spring Market of vendors, and presentations of gardening topics by Master Gardeners and area specialists.

The tour will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, 2024. A table with Galveston County Master Gardeners will be set up for both days to answer any gardening-related questions.

On Saturday, April 27, at 9 am, Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Chris Anastas will present Create a Small Pollinator Garden in Your Backyard. New and seasoned gardeners can create a container garden to draw pollinators.

At 10 am, fruit specialist Robert Marshall will present Fruit Trees for Your Yard, with Master Gardener Loretta Osteen presenting How to Successfully Grow Plumeria at 11:30 am. The speakers will offer usable information that will help anyone interested be successful.

The presentations are free and open to anyone interested. They will be held inside the garden clubhouse at 112 W. Spreading Oaks.

The tours of private home gardens will feature a wide variety of landscaping styles, a she-shed of everyone’s dreams, and repurposed art to add sparkle and life to a backyard. There is so much to see this year; all will be part of the tour.
Tickets for the private garden tours will soon be available at local businesses and at the garden clubhouse at 112 W. Spreading Oaks on both days.

The plant sale will run from 9 am to 4 pm both days. Garden club members have propagated many plants and are pass along plants, varieties that may no longer be offered in area stores and nurseries.

The vendor market continues to grow each week. A few spaces are still available for interested two and one-day vendors. For more information and an application, contact Paula Oddo at paulaoddo@gmail.com.
