Cooling centers open until end of Sept.

Date:

Cooling stations, which include Brazoria County library branches, will remain open through the end of September.

In addition to public libraries, the Salvation Army and Brazoria County Dream Center will be open to residents when the heat index is forecast to reach 100 degrees or higher, Monday through Saturday during business hours.

Residents who need transportation may call 979-487-2318 to request a free ride to one of the cooling stations. To ensure a free return trip, the driver will issue a pass, which will be signed by a librarian or an employee at the cooling station.

Groups, organizations, and individuals who would like to donate cases of bottled water can drop them off at any of the 12 libraries throughout the county.
