With the deadline approaching December 11, candidates are filing for a slate of county-level positions in the March 2024 primaries.
As of this week, however, positions representing the precinct encompassing Pearland in northern Brazoria County had yet to produce any contested races.
Precinct 3 County Commissioner Stacy Adams is again seeking the Republican nomination and is thus far unopposed. Precinct 3 Constable Buck Stevens and Precinct 3 Drainage District Commissioner Adrian Hernandez have also filed in the Republican primary, drawing no challengers in either party.
Brazoria County Sheriff L. “Bo” Stallman filed in the Republican primary, drawing challenger Richard Foreman, a police chief from Lake Jackson. Stallman took office in January 2021.
The lone candidate filing in the Democratic primary thus far at the county level is Manvel nurse Stephanie Baird for the position of Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, Place 1.
Filing for the March 5 primaries began November 11 and will end at 6 p.m. December 11. Candidates must submit a ballot application and either a filing fee or signed petition to their respective party chairperson.
The last day to register to vote in the March 5 primaries is February 5, 2024. Early voting is from February 20 through March 1.
